The beach

We really thought quite a bit about where we wanted to go to see Thailand's beautiful beaches. There are so many backpacker destinations like Phi Phi and Koh Tao, but we wanted a location without tourists, something more local. We settled on Pretchuap Khiri Khan province (see map below) and found a great resort called Sunshine Paradise with really reasonable rates that seemed really off the beaten path. It's so off the beaten path that this was the closest train station (only serviced by a once a day local train). It ended up being exactly what we were hoping for.

khok de hom station between Thap Sakae and Ban Krut

When we got off the train we were a little nervous to see it leave because it felt like the middle of nowhere

After walking for about a half a mile down this dirt road, we ended up at our resort and its incredible, wild beach

There were a few small fishing huts nearby. The fishermen would jump off their boats and swim large boxes of fish to shore. You can see two of them in the water here.

i wish this could be my office year round

More to come about our excursions to nearby villages--- and the food!
